Eyelash Extensions
Lash Extensions After Care
- Avoid water around your lash extensions for at least 24 hours for the adhesive to cure. It’s best to shower and wash your eyes to remove any oil or makeup residue before your appointment. After 24 hours you can safely get your lashes wet.
- Use face products that are oil free and apply sparingly around the eyes.
- Avoid excess natural oils such as your sweat around your lash extensions as it will loosen the bond of the adhesive. Wait 24 hours for the adhesive to cure before working out and always avoid saunas as humidity affects the adhesive bond.
- Regularly wash your eyelashes with an oil free cleanser with water gently to remove any makeup residue and natural oils. By doing this, you’re extending the longevity of your lashes by removing makeup build up and your natural oils. By not washing your lashes, they will appear dirty, loosen the adhesive bond and a risk of an eye infection. Avoid touching your eyes too much or picking at them and refrain from sleeping on your face, try to sleep on the sides of the pillow or your back.
When do I need a lash touch up?
As soon as you start to see your lashes are beginning to look sparse or less full. You will lose 2-5 lashes per day, sometimes none or on rare occasions up to 10 lashes which is not uncommon. Generally, you want to make a lash appointment every 2 – 3 weeks depending on your lash cycle and how well you maintain them. If you lost almost all of your lash extensions, a new set is required.
What are eyelash extensions?
Eyelash extensions enhances your eyes and elongates the length of your lashes and fullness. This replaces lash curlers, mascaras and even eyeliner as it defines your lash line as well. It avoids running or smearing mascaras or eyeliners as they’re no longer needed for daily use. You will be quicker getting ready in the day and no eye makeup touch up is needed. However, it is optional to wear eye makeup as long they’re oil free.
How are they applied and does it hurt?
Lash extensions is always painless. During the treatment you may even drift to sleep. Lash extensions are applied 1 extension to 1 of your own natural lash at a time. Volume lash extensions are applied 1 fan of extensions to 1 of your own natural lash at a time. These are never applied to multiple of your own lashes as this causes discomfort and is damaging. If you notice any discomfort with your lashes from a previous stylist, it’s most they’ve applied them improperly.
Do they feel heavy once applied?
No, they’re never heavy. In fact, it’ll feel like nothing was done to your lashes until you look into the mirror.
Is it safe to have them on all the time?
Yes, when applied correctly it doesn’t harm your natural lashes.
I have my lashes done previously, can I get a fill without a removal and new set?
If your lash extensions are properly placed and are not glued to multiple of your own lashes, you can get a lash fill. But if your lashes are damaged from a previous lash stylist then we would need to do a removal and possibly a new set if your lash health allows it. If they appear weak and brittle from your previous lash stylist, I will not put on a new set. You will need to take a break for a couple of weeks from the damage it has caused your natural lashes. A lash serum is recommended to restrengthen your lashes and to shorten the break from lash extensions.
Can I change the style of my lash extensions?
Yes, you can change the style of lashes in your next lash appointment.
Can I still wear mascara or eye makeup?
Wearing mascara isn’t needed but it is optional to wear mascara. For those who want to continue using it, make sure it’s oil free and water soluble, always apply at the tips of the lash extensions, never at the base as it’ll loosen the bond of the adhesive. You may continue to use eyeshadows and eyeliners that are oil free.
I lost a majority of my lash extensions after a couple of days of my lash appointment, what happened?
This is a rare occurrence, if you lost a majority of your lash extensions within a couple of days after your appointment and you followed the aftercare instructions, the chemistry between your lash and the adhesive did not bond well. This is also sign of an allergy reaction to the adhesive, which you must discontinue wearing eyelash extensions if other signs occur such as itchiness and puffy red eyes. If it’s not an allergy reaction, then a complementary touchup will be provided free of charge if this occurred less than 3 days. After 4 days I’m not responsible to your excessive loss of lash extensions due to natural hair cycle or you did not follow the aftercare instructions.
Permanent Makeup Brows
Permanent Makeup Brows After Care
- Day 1 – 3: Your eyebrows will appear darker than usual which is normal. Refrain from touching your eyebrows and apply a special ointment twice a day for 2 weeks to keep it from getting dry. Pat off any residue with a paper towel. Avoid immersing your brows in water for at least 24 hours. Wait 1 week before exercising or excessive sweating as the sweat will push out the pigment causing less retention.
- Day 4 – 15: Be patient, do not expect your brows to heal perfectly as each brow is going through a healing phase, they will look different each day. You will experience your brows itching and scabbing off. This is all normal and do not pick or scratch at the scabs as it will cause pigment loss, scarring or infection. The pigment will look as if it disappeared, but it hasn’t, your skin is regenerating new skin, it’s sloughing off the old top layer of skin and the pigment is underneath the new skin.
- Day 16 – 30: Your brows should reappear with certain areas that are patchy and will continue to fade before your next touch up. Expect about 40% of the pigmentation to fade. At this point, by the second week of healing, discontinue use of the ointment and use a moisturizer with spf daily. By the fourth week, your brows will appear to its true color. You may use eyebrow products after your brows have healed from scabbing before your next touch up.
- Day 31 – 42: After your touch up, you will go through the healing phase again but not as surprising and with better pigment retention. You will then have smudge proof and waterproof brows. Depending on each individual’s skin type, additional sessions are required especially for those with problematic skin lacking pigment retention at a minimum charge to obtain desired results.
What is microblading?
Microblading, microstroke, brow feathering, embroidery all means the same thing. A handheld tool or machine is used to deposit pigment into the skin of the eyebrow to replicate fine realistic hair strokes. This is a form of permanent makeup and is a 2-step process that will last one to two years depending on your skin type before a touch up is needed. If done by a machine, it’ll last much longer than a handheld tool. Click here for more details of other brow methods.
Who benefits this service?
Those who have sparse, bald patches, short brow/tail or non-existent eyebrows are the best candidates for full brows. Or for those who want to minimize wearing makeup to make their morning routines quicker. Imagine not to ever remove your eyebrow makeup anymore that is waterproof and smudge proof.
How long does it last?
Depending on your skin type and lifestyle it’ll last one to two years or longer before it has completely faded. Touch ups are recommended annually to keep the color and shape fresh.
Is the treatment painful?
Each individual’s pain tolerance is different; however, topical numbing cream is applied throughout the treatment to make you feel comfortable so you shouldn’t feel anything unbearable. It’ll feel or sound like small scratches.
Is there any down time?
No, there is no down time. However, there will be some swelling and/or redness after the procedure that will go away in a couple of hours. First day of treatment and the next couple of days, the color will appear darker during the healing process but will lighten up over the next couple of weeks and then it’ll show its true color in the last weeks of the healing process.
How long does it take to heal?
Each individual is different throughout the healing process. Generally, the first couple of days, the eyebrows will appear darker. Then about 1-2 weeks you’ll experience normal itching and scabbing that’ll form and fall off on its own from your body regenerating new skin over it. This will appear as if the pigment disappeared, but it hasn’t. In your next follow up, a touch up is needed within 4-8 weeks. After the final step, your eyebrows are set for the year or two.
Is it normal that my eyebrows are patchy during the healing process?
Yes, it is normal to experience your color appearing patchy in certain areas as your skin did not retain some of the pigment which results patchy areas. Once you receive a touch up, the patchiness won’t be an issue as the final step is to go over any spots that need a color touch up. However, those with problematic skin are required to have additional sessions to retain pigment into their skin at a minimum charge to obtain desired results.
My eyebrows are itchy can I scratch them?
No, refrain yourself from scratching or picking at your eyebrows, only pat them. Let your eyebrows naturally exfoliate on its own. Apply the ointment as needed to calm the itchiness.
Is it necessary for a touch up after the initial treatment?
Yes! A touch up is absolutely needed to retain the pigment in your skin while your skin is healing and regenerating new skin. This is a 2-step process and occasionally depending on an individual’s skin type, additional sessions are required. There may need to be pigment adjustments, change of density or shape of the brow, or a different size of the needle to be used on your skin type. There will be certain areas the pigment did not retain in your skin, therefor a touch up is required to have your brow retouched and set for the year.
My eyebrows look great! But there’s still some patches.
If you’ve gotten your touch up after your first initial brow treatment, then you have problematic skin that won’t fully retain pigment in the first couple sessions. For those who bleed more than normal will require one or more sessions to obtain desirable results at a minimum charge. As the blood pushes out the pigment, the body naturally defends itself to keep foreign substances out. Therefor additional sessions are required.
What results should I expect after the treatment?
Each individual’s final healing stage varies, a solid or powdery look will gear towards the oilier skin types while the normal to drier skin types are defined and crisp. Regardless of how you heal, your permanent makeup brows are there to stay. Now that you’ve completed the brow treatment, you can enjoy waking up and going to bed with little maintenance. Refreshers are necessary after one to two years to maintain the shape and color.
